My name is Dave and I am the photographer behind LightFast.

The early years

I was born in Southlands Hospital, Shoreham-by-sea, England on the 19th of February, 1985, which makes me 23 years old today. I have two older sisters and a younger brother and we all get on very well together.

Throughout my childhood, I had numerous health issues, mainly with my eyes. Several operations later, I was left with double vision in my left eye and the inability to use both eyes together, thus rendering me essentially one-sided in a visual sense.

I was always quite shy and pretty intelligent (why do those two things tend to go together so well?) and as such my upbringing was pretty uneventful, however, the separation of my parents when I was 10 brought about a great independence in me as I was now the oldest male in the house.

Growing up

As I grew up, my independence resulted in me teaching myself how to do things. If I didn't know how to do it, there wasn't really anyone to ask, so I would go and find out.

As I made my way through school, I continued to teach myself life's essentials taking a keen interest in cooking, which has translated into my adult life.

A couple of weekends ago, I headed up to Boston in order to see my wife's cousin get married. It was a wonderful affair and while I was there, I stepped in helped get some unofficial photographs. While taking a break from the frantic snapping to have a bite to eat, I saw the beautiful table setup and decided a photo was in order and here is the result:
